About Our Club

The History of Arcadia Host Lions:
During the month of October, 1936, 23 local business and professional men signed up for membership in a new Lions club starting in Arcadia, California.  Charter night was held Thursday evening, October 22, 1936 with a representative from Lions International and a representative from the sponsoring club, El Monte Lions Club conducting the installation.  The program was staged at what is now one of the historical buildings in Arcadia, The Arcadia Women’s Club.  It was the premier service club in Arcadia with members from every walk of life.  Through membership Lions not only help people in need, but have opportunities to develop personal friendships, and gain.

Our Mission:
The Mission of the Arcadia Host Lions Club is to improve life in our community through service projects and activities with an emphasis on sight and hearing while strengthening fellowship and ensuring the effective functioning of the club.

What is Lionism?:
Lions are an international network of 1.3 million men and women in 202 countries and geographic areas who work together to answer the needs that challenge communities around the world. Known for working to end preventable blindness, Lions participate in a vast variety of projects important to their communities. These projects range from cleaning up local parks to providing supplies to victims of natural disasters. Beginning in 1917, the association of Lions clubs has provided millions of people with the opportunity to give something back to their communities.
